Benefits of Dead Sea Salt Baths

Dead Sea salt is one of the most sought-after ingredients for skin care products. The mineral rich salt provides a number of benefits for your skin and overall health. It is important to note that this type of bath is not for everyone, but if you're looking for a spa-like experience at home, then it's worth a try.

I'm sure you've heard about the benefits of bathing in Dead Sea salt before, but do you know what they are?

If you don’t let us tell you all about them.

Hydrates, Moisturizes And Exfoliates Your Skin

Dead Sea Salts Hydrate, Moisturize And Exfoliate Your Skin

A study by Proksch E, Nissen HP, Bremgartner M, Urquhart C. looked at volunteers with atopic dry skin. These people submerged one forearm for 15 min in a bath solution containing 5% Dead Sea salt. The second arm was submerged in tap water as control.

They found that bathing in Dead Sea salts significantly improved barrier function. They also found that skin hydration was enhanced on the forearm treated with the Dead Sea salt in each group, which means the treatment moisturized the skin.

Reduces Inflammation

The same study cited by above Proksch E, Nissen HP, Bremgartner M, Urquhart C. found that skin roughness and redness (markers used for inflammation) were significantly reduced after bathing in Dead Sea salts.

Remove Dead Skin

Dead Sea Salt makes for a great exfoliator. Give your entire body a scrub in the shower or tub by mixing Dead Sea Salts with your loofah. Dead Sea salt will help you remove all that dead skin and speed up your skin's rejuvenation process.

Recover Your Muscles

A study by Sukenik, S. H. A. U. L. found that patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) saw a reduction of spinal pain and saw a significant improvement in the range of movement in the lumbar spine.

Which is why it’s no surprise that many people, from athletes to those in physically demanding jobs, use Dead Sea salt to relax their muscles and relieve pain. Salt from the Dead Sea contains sodium and bromide, both of which are anti-inflammatory.

Reduce Stress

Dead Sea salts reduce stress levels

A Dead Sea bath helps relieve stress by increasing circulation. It also enhances the sensation of relaxation and well-being by slowing the activity of the nervous system, improving sleep quality, promoting relaxation, and lifting mood in people suffering from sleep disorders.

Stimulates Blood Circulation

A paper by The University of Jordan, Amman mentions that Dead Sea Salts, which are rich in magnesium, have many therapeutic uses. For example, Dead Sea mud can stimulate blood circulation, enhance lymphatic flow, and cleanse the skin.

Reduces Dandruff

A study by B. Abu-Jdayil, University of Bahrain investigated the effect of the antidandruff climbazole on the rheology of hair shampoo containing Dead Sea (DS) salts.

They found that the presence of either Dead Sea salt or the climbazole led to increase in the shampoo viscosity. They also found that by controlling the pH of shampoo, they could create an optimum formula of shampoo comprising both climbazole and Dead Sea salt and having maximum viscosity.

What this means is that Dead Sea salts not only are Dead Sea salts a strong mineral with healing and anti-fungal properties but they also play a big role on shampoos for having an optimal shampooing experience, reducing oiliness of scalp and thus, reducing dandruff.

Heals Chronic Skin Conditions

Many studies have found that Dead Sea salts are great for treating many diseases. For example, the major diseases that are frequently treated by Dead Sea balneotherapy are musculoskeletal and dermatologic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, low back pain, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and other joint diseases.
